Hi!

I'm Whitney. Welcome to my little slice of the Internet, where I talk about life in Seattle and our travels beyond it. I have a handsome husbro I may have met outside of a bar, two crazy felines, and two kiddos, too. It’s a lot, so I’m not always spending as much time here as I’d like. Do you like reality TV, sampling all the products, and pickled veggies? Same!

I'm so glad  you're here.

My Go-To CBD Brands in 2021

My Go-To CBD Brands in 2021

Around this time last year, I was in a deep anxiety spiral and looking for whatever kind of (natural) relief I could get. I’d heard a lot about CBD and thought that could be my first stop, but I’d found the landscape of it to be a bit of a wild west in terms of dosage, flavor, cost, and general information. It was so hard to sift through! After literally 24+ hours of deep Google holes, I asked a question on my local mommy Facebook group to see if they knew any resources nearby.

I had told myself I didn’t really want gummies because of the extra sugar, but this company was local (like, right down the street local), so I figured I’d get a tincture—mostly pure CBD with a light flavor, preferably mint—and get these gummies to try, too. You know, to support some other moms. Very quickly, I came around to gummies and actually prefer them over anything else—the Bizzy CBD gummies in particular—but, more on that later.

Before we dig in further, your first question is probably what is CBD and what is it used for? I am no scientist and I am somewhat lazy, so I’m just going to rip this straight from the Bizzy CBD website:

CBD is short for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is an extract from hemp, a commonly used term for strains of the cannabis sativa plant with very low levels of THC. Today, hemp is used in a wide range of products in the United States and globally. Hemp oil contains CBD, the non-psychoactive compounds of the cannabis plant, which has been around for thousands of years and has been used medicinally for centuries.

Full spectrum CBD contains trace amounts of THC (aka marijuana). Broad spectrum doesn’t. I don’t really care either way, but in my experience full spectrum = higher chill level + skunkier taste and broad spectrum = very nice chill level + tastes like Haribo. Tinctures are more likely to taste skunky either way, regardless of their CBD/THC concentrations because they are more “pure.” That’s why I initially wanted a tincture that I could dose myself. These, too, though, come in different levels of CBD/THC concentrations. You see why I was in a deep Google hole that made my head hurt even more?

Here are my three go-to brands. I found them through deep research and personal testing and can vouch for them all. They have helped me navigate heavy days better without even thinking about it and generally made my life a lot easier. And, when I dump Fizzy Bizzy in my baths that I tend to run very hot, it takes me a quarter of the time to cool down once I get out. I seriously love that stuff!

Sabaidee

This was my first tincture. It started with a nice concentration of CBD on its lowest level and has a nice mint flavor. Remember, the more concentrated you go, the skunkier it tastes. In my experience, anything without any flavor, makes you feel like you’re drinking bong water. Start with Good Vibes and go up from there if you feel like you need it. The highest I’ve gone is Super Good Vibes, which I like as well.

House of Wise

I found House of Wise through one of my sorority sisters when I asked about women-owned businesses that may need some copywriting or influencer marketing support. I started chatting with them and they sent me a kit of stuff to try. Remember that I liked my mint tinctures? Their stress-specific blend is flavored with passion fruit, and man, it is NICE. I used that baby up so quickly and need to re-order. I’m also very intrigued by the sex blend and have been wanting to try that, too. I am really impressed with their market and how they’re supporting women as they build their company. They just got a bunch of seed funding, which will allow them to lower prices and reach more humans who need them! I love watching badass women do big things.

WHIT20 gets you 20% off! Start with the stress tincture and go from there.

Bizzy

You can hear all about my origin story with the Bizzy women here on my podcast, The Coast. I’m at the point where I’m popping one of their gummies most days. Just like the rest of these brands, I stay mostly in the low to medium dosage, right before things start to taste skunky. This company is run by the most impressive women who realized if they were learning a ton about how hemp could help them, their friends needed to know about it, too.

And the best part is this CBD company is super close to me! Like, right down the road close. Like, before they figured out they had “free pick-up” toggled on on their website, I loaded up my toddler and mobbed ten minutes down the road on a drug run close to me.

My code, BIZZYWHITP, gets you $$$ off your order. Every order. Memorize it because you’re gonna be ordering from them a lot.

I’ve come a long way from my childhood of being denied the hemp chokers at Afterthoughts (eventually The Icing for the younger peeps) by the Director of Safe and Drug-Free Schools for the State of Washington (aka my mom). She’s no stranger to Sabaidee’s Super Vibes now, either.
