An Eggsellent Easter Project for You!

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

I saw these when I was casually stalking Instagram and thought, OMG, how cuuuuute. Hey, I can make those!

So I did.

Look how fun! I didn't buy anything—boiled eggs we already had, pulled some weeds out of the garden, made some little flower crown loops out of them, drew faces, and beholdddd.

Less mess and more fun than dye kits. Dye kits have their place and all, but it's nice to change things up. AND I JUST LOVE THEIR EXTREME CUTE FACTOR, AHHHH.

Try something new for Easter at your house! I want to see what you've got.

I'll be heading to Southern California to see my mom and the extended fam starting Thursday. Girlfriend is ready for some sun. Raz's parents will meet us, and it'll all be on Snapchat/Instagram: @whitpopa.

Prepping for Nordstrom Triple Points

Monday, March 21, 2016

The spring Nordstrom Triple Points event starts tomorrow and goes through Sunday—it includes Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook. I know because I got a post card about it and then I hand wrote it on my fridge calendar. That is how much I care. I have been preparing my Wish List for the occasion and can't seem to stick to any particular theme.

Check out a selection of things I'm eyeing—everything from cute little party snack bags, to the dress JoJo almost wore on The Bachelor finale—and tell me in the comments what you're about to add to your cart. What's the fun of shopping if you don't actively enable each other?

While I have you, a life update: Last week, I was given the opportunity to explore the next chapter in my career. That has come with a range of emotions, but I can't help but believe there is something big—in a good way—at play. In the meantime, I'm going to create a little schedule for myself here and commit to at least three posts each week. If you have requests, please send them my way!

Weekends Spent Stacking Paper...Errrr, Wood

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

I wrote a while ago now about how hard and weird and rare it was to know what to do with myself on the weekends. That was a different blog and a different time. I didn't know it then, but I know now that I was running from things—from dealing with all the drama and emotion around my dad and my family, from personal relationships that weren't helping me grow, from cubicles that weren't feeding my soul, from routine, from consistency.

I didn't know what I wanted and I didn't know how to move forward. I wanted roots, but I was afraid to plant them.

And then we bought a house. And after a year of nagging and whining, Raz and I hired a team to help us make our living room the living room of my Pinter-dreams. They helped me create something that was decidedly adult, warm, welcoming, quirky, and in their words, perfectly "eclectic." More to come on that.

Raz will likely roll his eyes reading this because he's done *most* of the hard labor. Watching him put this room together has cemented my sense of what home should feel like. It feels goooood. I want to be in it all the time, even though I mostly stand in it and just look around. I've been nervous to hang out it in before photos were done. I'm getting over that. Thinking of being away now isn't as exciting or as romantic as it used to be. Every day after work I can't wait to get home, pet my furry monster greeters, and look at this beautiful place we've created.

One of the last things we needed to do to complete the room was get a bunch of wood to fill in one of our built-ins. I thought it would be a fun adventure to drive up north and find a wood pile. It didn't turn out exactly the way I envisioned, but, hey, it was pretty fun, and I got to play with my camera.

Here are some pics from that.

We thought we'd find more success at a little nursery. Wrong. I do love him in neutrals, though.
Outta there without any wood.
We ended up getting wood at a local grocery store once we got back to Seattle. 18 bundles of it.

Def put him there. Worth it.

And then we went to my grandparents' house to celebrate their birthdays and I saw all this free wood. To be fair, I'm not sure if it was free, but it looked pretty so I took a picture of it.

Weekend adventures, I'm into them. Stay tuned for the room reveal. It's on its way for realz!

Oh, and, hey, if you wanna peep the products we got before I post the full photoshoot, here are most of them, plus some fun things I want and haven't gotten. Yet:
